Who knew that some local towns and their merchants were listed in the R.G. Dun Mercantile Agency Reference Books years ago? Yes, this is the same R.G. Dun who eventually became Dun and Bradstreet. Willshire, Schumm, and Chattanooga are all called Banking Towns in their publication.

In the past, Christmas was the time when businesses gave away small handy and useful items to thank their customers as well as to advertise their business. These items often included calendars, notebooks, pencils, pens, and the like. Some businesses still send out promotional items, but it doesn’t seem as many do today as in years past.

At one time, likely in the late 1800s or just after the turn of the century, Chattanooga, Ohio, had a photographer–Morrison Photography. I know this because I have a couple of these photos, with Morrison, Chattanooga, O, incised in the frame mat.
That is all I know about this photographer. He is somewhat of a mystery.
