I continue to search through old issues of The Celina Democrat, looking for articles and information about our area of Mercer County. One thing I noticed is that this newspaper, during this time period, often featured articles about liquor and drinking.

1907: Traction Line Planned for Chatt

Chattanooga, Ohio, was founded before 1840. It was and still is a very small town. I have heard that a train was supposed to go through Chatt many years ago.

What was going on in Chattanooga a little over 100 years ago? Thanks to a reader, I learned that a few years of The Celina Democrat newspaper (years 1910-1918) are on the Library of Congress website.

Willshire, Schumm, & Chatt-1914 R.G. Dun Mercantile Reference

Who knew that some local towns and their merchants were listed in the R.G. Dun Mercantile Agency Reference Books years ago? Yes, this is the same R.G. Dun who eventually became Dun and Bradstreet. Willshire, Schumm, and Chattanooga are all called Banking Towns in their publication.
