Over the years, as I have sorted through and categorized many old family photos, I ended up with a folder of Miller family vehicles.
Perhaps other families took photos of their cars and trucks, too, like my family did. They are fun to look at.
Many of the vehicles were owned by my dad Herb, who liked cars and trucks, and basically any motorized vehicle. Uncle Kenny helped me identify most of them a few years ago. Some of them have stories associated with them.
Disclaimer: I don’t know a lot about car makes, models, or years and I hope I have identified these vehicles correctly.
My Grandpa Carl Miller’s 1936 Buick in the background of this photo, taken about 1948.
My dad’s 1929 Model A Roadster with a rumble seat. He wrecked this car when he was driving with his cousin Merlin Miller, as they pretended to shoot down the “enemy” during the war era.
My dad’s 1936 Chevy. He had this car when he went into the Army during WWII and he left it for his sister Helen to drive while he was away. He often asked about this car and the condition of the tires in his war letters from Germany. Uncle Kenny recalled that Helen used this car to drive the younger Miller siblings to church. I think this is Kenny with his bike.
Herb’s 1940-41 Ford pickup.
Herb’s 1946-47 Champion Regal Deluxe Studebaker Sedan. This may be the car my dad was driving in the blizzard on the way to his wedding rehearsal in December 1950. He got stuck in the snow near Duck Creek Cemetery and spent the night there in the car. The wedding had to be postponed until the next weekend.
Uncle Kenny’s 1949 Hudson Bathtub.
Kenny’s 1949 Ford Sedan, that he owned between 1951-1953.
My dad and Uncle Kenny, with Kenny’s 1952 Olds 88.
I think this is another photo of Kenny’s 1952 Olds 88.
Aunt Ann liked cars, too, and I remember she had a nice white convertible with a red interior, probably in the early 1960s.
Aunt Ann standing by an unknown car.
This 1960 Chevy Impala is among my photos, but the owner is unknown.
My parents rarely purchased a new car. They liked to purchase gently-used cars, often from Wendel Brothers in Chatt. My dad worked in Lima for many years and wore out a lot of cars because of that long drive.
I loved this Corvair!
I learned to drive a standard transmission on this Ford truck.
Yes, the Millers liked cars. I remember many a reunion or family gathering when the men would walk over to the parking area and look at the new car someone had recently purchased.
Many years and many vehicles. I would love to have some of these old cars now!

Neat history and back stories of lots of vintage cars and trucks! It was an era when the guys loved their wheels, and the gals loved riding in them.

Thanks, Sondra, and what you said is so true!
These are all great pictures of your family vehicles. I’ve found many pictures of our family with their cars/trucks. But I don’t have ours in any order to be able to readily find them. Maybe a project in the future for me. They did like taking pictures with their cars in them. Nice article, Karen.

Thanks, Paula. It is a good project, although I struggle with organizing photos. I think I have too many! Thanks for writing.
